Cookie notice
A cookie is a small file a website stores on your device. The rules in the UK (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations) say we must ask before we store anything that is not strictly necessary. So this site stores nothing on your device until you choose.
Before you choose
Nothing is stored and nothing Google-owned is loaded. We still count the visit, using a simple first-party measurement that sends the page address, your rough screen size, the country of your request and whether you came from one of our adverts. It sets no cookies, keeps no identifier, and does not store your IP address, so it cannot be tied back to you.
If you press “Only essential”
We store one thing: a record of your choice, so we stop asking.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
| kk_consent | Local storage (first party) | Remembers whether you agreed to analytics cookies, so the banner does not come back. | Until you clear your browser storage |
This one is strictly necessary — it exists only to honour your choice — so we do not need consent for it.
If you press “Agree”
We additionally load Google Analytics 4 and our Google Ads tag, which set these cookies:
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | Tells one visitor’s browser apart from another’s, so visits can be counted. | 2 years |
| _ga_<id> | Google Analytics | Keeps the state of your current visit. | 2 years |
| _gcl_au | Google Ads | Records that you arrived from one of our adverts, so a sign-up can be attributed to it. | 90 days |
| _gcl_aw, _gcl_dc | Google Ads | Stores the advert click identifier for conversion measurement. | 90 days |
Google may use this data as described in its privacy policy and advertising cookie notice. [CHECK THIS TABLE AGAINST WHAT YOUR TAGS ACTUALLY SET ONCE THEY ARE LIVE — your browser’s developer tools, Application > Cookies, will show you.]
Fonts
Our typefaces load from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts fonts.googleapis.com. No cookie is set, but your IP address is visible to Google in order to deliver the file. [TO AVOID THIS ENTIRELY, SELF-HOST THE FONTS — see the README.]
Changing your mind
Press here or in the footer of any page to see the banner again and change your answer. Choosing “Only essential” after having agreed stops us loading the Google tags from then on; to remove cookies already set, clear them in your browser settings.
More about what we do with personal data is in our privacy notice.
